My Private22 Redact

Your screenshot never leaves your device.

Cover a name, an address, a balance, or a one-time code before the picture goes anywhere. The file stays in this browser. The PNG you download has those pixels replaced, and the hidden metadata left out.

What the export is

Out for delivery

The black is the picture. There is no original waiting underneath the box, and there is no account required to make it.

How it works

Three steps, all of them on this machine.

  1. 01

    Open it here

Drop a PNG or JPEG, paste a screenshot, or try the sample. Decoding happens in this tab. There is no upload step because there is nowhere to upload to.

  2. 02

    Mark what should disappear

Draw a box around a name, an address, a balance, or a code. Solid black is the cover we recommend. You can move, resize, undo, and switch a box to pixelate or blur if you accept the tradeoff.

  3. 03

    Export, then read the check

My Private22 flattens the boxes into the picture, writes a PNG, and reads that PNG back. When the pixels match, the page says the redacted areas are permanently removed. Download that file, not the original.

Privacy

The promise is the absence of a server.

My Private22 does not ask you to sign in. It does not measure you. It does not invent a cryptography scheme and ask you to trust it. The screenshot is decoded with ordinary browser and library code, edited in memory, and offered back as a file download.

That also means we cannot recover a picture for you, and we cannot see whether the export looked right. The check on the export page is there so you do not have to take the cover on faith: the saved PNG is opened again and compared before the download button appears.

Your camera roll is left alone. If you attach the original instead of the PNG this page gives you, none of the covers travel with it.

The suite

Redact is the one that works today.

Questions

Before you share the file

Where does the screenshot go?

It stays in this browser tab. My Private22 reads the pixels locally, draws the covers locally, and builds the PNG locally. Closing the tab discards that memory. We do not have an account system, an analytics script, or a server copy, because the file is never sent.

Why not blur it in Photos?

A blur in many editors is a filter, and a black rectangle is sometimes only a layer. If the wrong file gets shared, the original can still be underneath, and large letters can survive a mild blur. My Private22 writes new pixels into a new PNG. Solid black replaces the text with opaque black. Pixelate and blur also rewrite the samples and force them opaque, but they can leave big type recognizable.

Does cropping remove an address?

Cropping changes the frame. Anything still inside the crop is still in the picture, and a photo can still carry the time and place in its metadata. This tool replaces the pixels you mark and writes a PNG that does not include EXIF, GPS, or text chunks. The original in your camera roll is unchanged. Share the export.

Will it find the sensitive parts for me?

Not in this version. You decide what to cover. That is slower, and it will not notice a thumbnail or a second phone number you skipped. It also will not black out something you meant to keep.

What does the verified line mean?

After export, the PNG is decoded again and compared with the flattened picture. If you marked at least one area and every check passes, the page reads: Verified: redacted areas are permanently removed. That means solid areas are opaque black, other covers are opaque, pixels outside the boxes match the original, and the file has no metadata chunks. If you marked nothing, the page says so: metadata was removed and the picture is unchanged. That is not the same claim.

Can I open a HEIC photo?

Only when this browser can decode HEIC itself. If it cannot, My Private22 tells you to save a JPEG or PNG from the iPhone share sheet and drop that copy here. The HEIC file is not uploaded either way.
